September OUTLOOK

From the Rev Mark-Aaron Tisdale
Greetings and salutations.
The parishioners of All Saints? Church and I pray that your summer holiday was joyful and restful, and that you were able to recharge and reinvigorate yourselves for the upcoming seasons. As the young ones, their teachers and school staff, knuckle down to another academic year, we at All Saints? are likewise preparing to enter a busy year ahead.
We have two (2) more major events planned in this ?Byng? year, both to honour and raise the Admiral?s plight profile as also to raise awareness of our little and beautiful village church, currently planning to build modern toilet and meeting room facilities. We present to the Parish of Southill and beyond Nigel Pascoe?s play, ?To encourage the others?, on 22 September 2007 in church, as well as a Thane Byng operatic production in March 2008, to wrap up a ?Byng? year in grand style. March 2007-March 2008 constitutes just one of the years to come.
As you may know, the Church celebrates & worships God in a yearly cycle, beginning with the season of Advent (2 December 2008). Over the past two years, the worshipping congregation has grown. We are encouraged by local people interested in learning how to ring the church bells, and are pleased to have them rung for our Family Service on the first Sunday of each month. Our Sunday School is growing, too. Moreover, there are many people who have indicated to us that they would like to sing in an All Saints? choir, which we are working towards, this coming year.
With all the things happening this year, it might be easy to get too wrapped up in the mechanics of the events, without contemplating the fuel or propulsion system. Christians are never doing things for vain glory or worldly recognition. Our rewards are God given, in His time and at His leisure. Through our belief in God, and in His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, we can do great things in His name. Our faith can move mountains, heal the sick, rouse the destitute, and can move us to great acts of love and charity. We need these new facilities in the church, for example, for weddings, funerals, and concerts, as much as for our children in Sunday School. The members of All Saints? have their neighbours on their hearts and minds. We need every one?s support.
I pray that you pray about the work of your village church in the Parish of Southill, and in so doing that God enables you to help us in whatever way you can, even if it?s to worship more often with us on Sundays. God bless you this September and may He grant us great success!
Yours in Christ,
